Pack Bust: 2008 Topps Heritage

I picked up a hobby pack of '08 Heritage at a card show last weekend. I payed $3 for the pack which is pretty good since a retail pack is $3 anyway. Here's what I got: #22 Brian Fuentes (Black Back Parallel), #199 Russel Martin, #410 Mark Buehrle, #251 Alex Gonzalez, #402 Dustin McGowan, #270 Price Fielder, #22 Brian Fuentes, and #NF8 Luna 2. At first I was really upst that I got 2 of the same card in a pack. Later when I was showing my gradpa the cards I realized that the first one was a black back parallel. Then I was only relativly mad. There wasn't any really anything special about this pack. I was pretty disapoited with evrything except the design. I will probably stick to finishing my '07 Heritage set instead of this one. Speaking of '07 Heritage, I was lucky enough to find to packs in a clearence bin at Wal-Mart. I will post them later.

A New Project

I've got a new project to work on. I need to gather as many Scott Rolen and Derek Lee cards as I can. I'm not looking for autographs or #'d inserts. I only need one game-used card of Derek Lee. So basically as many base and inserts as possible. Why? I'm putting together 2 presents for my little cousins help their progress their collections. They each have a small assortment of cards from 2007 and 2006.
The younger one of the 2 likes the Cubs and Derek Lee. The older one likes the Cardinals along with Albert Pujols and Scott Rolen. I figured player collecting would be the most interesting for them so I'm making starter collections for each to give them for their birthdays (July and September). I already have around 25 cards already for the presents. I'm looking for 60-80 for each.
I really need help getting these cards. I'll trade base and inserts for base and inserts. e-mail me with a list of what you have and want and we can probably work something out. Thank you for your help.

How can you not here about it enough to have decided? Also, I'm sad that everyone has lost face in The Rocket. Oh well, I still believe in him.

Classified under "And More"

I've decided to post something absolutly nothing to do with baseball cards. Actually it has nothing to do with sports.

I recently bought my first CD. Yes that's right, my first CD. I've never bought a CD until now. I usually just buy one or 2 songs of of a CD on Itunes. Wal-Mart had all of their CD's on sale for $8 so I picked one up instead of a pack of cards because they still haven't got any new products. Anyway the album is "Guns N' Roses: Greatest Hits". It was really cool to actually own a CD. The first thing I did was take it home and put it on my Ipod. I would of just downloaded it on Itunes but it was $5 more to do that. Here is the song list off of the CD:

Welcome To The Jungle
Sweet Child O' Mine (amazing song)
Patience
Paradice City (my favorite)
Knockin' On Heaven's Door
Civil War
You Could Be Mine
Don't Cry (Original)
November Rain [very long song (9:00 min)]
Live & Let Die (my sister is obsessed with this song)
Yesterdays
Ain't It Fun
Since I Don't Have You
Sympathy For The Devil
I'm ok with buying a CD but I prefer to buy it on Itunes. I probably won't buy another album until I can buy "Contraband" buy Velvet Revolver but it's not in stock right now.

2008 Upper Deck Bust

I busted my first pack of 2008 product. I was going to wait and get a Topps Heritage pack first but I couldn't wait. I opened a pack of 2008 Upper Deck for $2.99. For the first time Upper Deck has the new logo on their cards and includes 18 cards per pack. Here's what I got: Jason Kendall (Now with Cubs?) Jason Isrighausen Mark Hendrickson Chris Young (Padres) Scot Shields Jake Westbrook Ken Griffy Jr. (Finally Someone Good) Joe Borowski Edgar Renteria (pictured for the wrong team) Geoff Jenkins Dan Haren (possibly going to the Yankees?) Ross Gload Aubrey Huff Vladimir Guerrero Wladimir Balentine RC (Anyone know how to pronounce his name?) Nyjer Morgan RC The House That Ruth Built #17 Starquest Albert Pujols This years base set is worst than the '06 design. I thought that was impossible. Other than the awsome Yankees inserts this year, I see no reason to buy more. I guess I might get a few more packs in hope of pulling a Joe Thatcher RC. Also, the Starquest insert set looks almost exactly like the 1996 Leaf Limited Rookies set. I recently traded an Andruw Jones card from that set to dayf on Cardboard Junkie. Overall Pack Grade: c+

Baseball: 12 (75 %)
Basketball: 0 (0%)
Football: 3 (18%)
Hockey: 1 (6%)

This is a record for votes in a poll on my blog. I'm so excited to finally have some readers plus I have people leaving comments! Thank you to people being active on my blog. Anyway, to my thoughts on the poll results. I'm really not suprised Baseball was the winner, I'm suprised that I have football fans and a hockey fan on here. Its great that I have a diverse group of readers. It gives me more things I can post about (like the Super Bowl). Next weeks poll is going to be about the baseball offseason. Here are the choices and question. "What is the Biggest Deal made this Baseball Offseason?" Choices: TBD

Football News Worthy of a Post!

For the first time in the short short history of my blog, I am going to post about football. This will be considered part of the "& More" in the blog title.
The New York Giants have won the super bowl! This is great. I've never really been a Giants fan but I was rooting for them for 3 reasons:

1 It was a New York vs. Boston thing, I always root for Ney York in those situations.

2 I like to root for the underdog.
3 Eli Manning used to be my favorite football player. He was the Little bro of Peyton and that facinated me because I used to be a Colts fan (stupid me) before I realized how great the Baltimore Ravens were.
This was the greatest football game I've ever seen (it didn't have much competition). I went bizzerk when Eli broke those 3 Patriot tackles, ran out of the pocket and launched it deep to David Tyree who made an unbelievable helmet catch.
This now that I started paying attention to the Giants I rembered this seen off of this movie my sister was watching called Madagascar. It's about some animals who get trapped on an island while being shipped. When they get on the island, they go looking for food and shelter. They run into some natives having a party (the natives were some kind of squirrel or Lemur). the 4 main characters are, Alex the lion, Marty the Zebra, Norman the giraffe, and Gloria the hippo. The 4 intrude on the party and are confronted by the prince.
Prince Lemur (or whatever it is): "Who are you giant freaks?"
Alex: "I am Alex, this is Marty, Norman, and Gloria."
Prince: "Where are you giant freaks from?"
Alex: "We're from New York. We just"
Prince: "Wait," the king turns around and says to hundreds or lemurs,"All hail the New York Giants"
Crowd of Lemurs: NEW YORK GIANTS!, NEW YORK GIANTS!"
Now a quick summary of the game, The Patriots played like crap until they realized they might actually get beat then played hard but it was too late. Eli won and finally is getting the respect he deserves as a starting QB, and David Tyree is part of one of the top 5 football plays. What a game. By the way, 18-1, who hoooooo!

Weekly Poll

From now on I will have a weekly poll above the archive list on the right. I will have all sorts of catagories for people to vote on with a different poll each week. This weeks poll is "What Sport do You Collect Most?" There is also a yearly poll at the bottom of the page for people to vote in. This years poll is "Who is the Best Baseball Player of all time?" I hope to get good response from my readers in these polls. Everyone please vote, this helps me keep track of how many people come on my website and what my readers opinions are. This will help me decide what to post on. I am considering posting about football on here too that is the main purpose of this weeks poll. I think these polls are a great way for me to get feedback from my readers.
